Ski trip to Big Bear

So we took a little ski trip in March w/ my brother Corry to Big Bear. We stayed in a really cool condo that we loved and we were right at the base of Snow Summit. Big Bear sustains itself on man made snow for the most part so it was a little odd to be skiing and yet the temperatures were getting into the 70's during the day. The snow wasn't too bad and it was really cool to get around town easy - you could have easily hiked mountain biked etc... and gone skiing the same day.

Our own little Polk Gothic!!!

Ty had a great ski instructor - and Ty thought it was pretty cool that he was NOT a grown-up and he reminded me of Ty's cousin Tristan. Ty got quite good at skiing this trip and when I started going up the hill w/ him it was a little scary because he is so darn fast and fearless. But he did great this year.

And Corry has also gotten better - he's practically flying down the blues w/ me now - maybe next year we'll both tackle the blacks:)

This is our before picture. The day before we were to leave on our trip Britain and Ty argued over who got to sleep on the floor and who got to sleep in Ty's bed. Brit got the bed (oh what I wouldn't do to change that decision) and fell out in the middle of the night and needed a few stitches.

So we didn't want to risk Britain skiing this year - and I think she was a little bored - but her and daddy went home early to get her stitches out and they apparently has a great time. Trey remarked that Britain would have LOVED being an only child!!!

This is Britain's bear Patch that she got at the ER. Britain was so brave - she did not cry once at the hospital - not one little bit while the doctor was giving the local or during the stitches.
I didn't want to be the kind of mom who asks for a plastic surgeon - but was very happy when one was called in and he did an excellent job. Her scar is healing well - we will just need to be a little careful w/ how much sun she gets on it this summer.

The last morning Corry, Ty, Celia and I were at the cabin it started snowing and snowing and snowing - we should have just loaded up the car and got going - but I wanted to let Celia get her morning nap and by the time we left we had to buy snow chains. (Thanks Uncle Corry!!) It was wicked wierd to watch the snow melting the further down the mountain we went and watch the temperature reading go from 28 to 70 degrees.

Celia had a pretty good weekend and got to know her Uncle Corry pretty good. When we woke him up at 5AM to go to the ER he received a crash lesson in babysitting from Ty.
Apparently Ty is pretty helpful unless it comes to poopy diapers!!! He also let me go skiing and watched her a good bit too. (Thanks again Corry:)

Ty has also found a love of a comic strip that my whole family loves. Uncle Corry read "Ty and Hobbes" to him the whole weekend. He enjoyed telling Britain lots of the stories about that crazy kid and tiger that comes to life and gets Ty into trouble.
